Zach joined Tevis Architects as a Design Architect in 2015 and has brought his diverse project experience and strong client background to our Shawnee Office.  A Kansas University Alumni,  Zach has honed his career doing everything from big box retail, mixed-use and multi-family high rise, and educational facilities to high end custom residential, historic and adaptive re-use, and even tenant finish work.  Zach’s creative design approach and project conception make him a valuable asset to our design team where he leads our Residential, Commercial, Mixed use and Multi-Family Design projects.

Zach is the lead design Partner for Tevis’s commercial studio located in Kansas City, and works with our Partners and studio directors to help translate a client’s vision into reality. He guides them through the design process with an equal emphasis on the overall sense of space and on the smaller details, making the end solution personalized specifically and perfectly for the client’s needs. Clients enjoy Zach’s patience and openness, his knowledge base, and his never-ending commitment to the success of their project. Zach’s experience with sustainable design solutions enable our clients to enjoy a finished building that is not only beautiful and functional, but affordable to maintain and operate as well. Zach influences the larger conceptual processes of many projects within the studio and is also deeply involved in our professional development program.

An alumnus of the University of Kansas, Zach has honed his career in many areas: big box retail, mixed-
use, multi-family high-rise, educational facilities, high-end custom residential, historic and adaptive re-
use, and commercial tenant finish work. Zach’s creative design approach and deep understanding of
project conception make him a valuable asset to our design team. Within the boundaries of extremely
tight budgets and stringent program requirements, he remains committed to excellence in design. Zach
has been recognized multiple times for his design work: 2009 Home of the Year for Kansas City Home
and Garden Magazine; The 2016 National Apartment Association (NAA) “Excellence Award” in the Best
Community, Specialty, Affordable category for the St. Michael’s Veteran Center; and the Capstone
Awards 2017 Community Impact Award for St. Michael's Veteran Center Phase II expansion.

Outside of the office, Zach enjoys spending time with his family of 6 while playing board games, traveling, watching the Jayhawks, and working in their vineyard outside of Tonganoxie, Kansas.
